Christmas is not something that usually creeps on a tour of Avenged Sevenfold, the band did not exactly get in the festive spirit, while on the road. Somehow, it seems hard to imagine someone named Synyster Gates baking cookies, or Johnny Christ recounting nativity stories in the back of the bus. And so, Shadows gets his Christmas environment exclusively at home.

“When you’ve been on planes and buses throughout the day, you can not get a Christmas vibe -. So I love staying at home for that”

Nella breve intervista Matt dice di amare particolarmente il Natale anche se non è molto attivo nelle varie preparazioni (volendo non riuscirei nemmeno a immaginarlo che fa il presepe comunque) e lascia così, tutto il lavoro a sua moglie Val. Aggiunge inoltre che non è possibile ricreare l’ atmosfera natalizia nel retro di un bus durante un tour, per questo motivo ama sempre prendersi una pausa per tornare a casa; tutto ciò lo rende particolarmente felice. Alla fine gli viene chiesto se si è mai vestito da Babbo Natale e risponde che forse lo farà solo ora che ha un figlio (due, in realtà!).
