Per il mese di Novembre il nostro Brian tra gli album che gli hanno cambiato la vita ci consiglia l’album Abbey Road dei The Beatles.

Ecco cosa dice riguardo l’album:

Ehi famiglia! Il mio album del mese è Abbey Road dei The Beatles. Questo è il mio album preferito della mia band preferita (ovviamente insieme ai Bungle)

Sono sempre stato indeciso tra Magical Mystery Tour e Abbey, ma man mano che invecchio, Abbey è così solida e intelligente che continua ad aumentare il suo vantaggio nei miei confronti. Il medley nella seconda metà è a dir poco geniale e i diversi paesaggi sonori, vocalmente e oltre a quelli della prima metà, mi portano in un’altra dimensione. Una dimensione in cui tutte le “regole” della musica percepite vengono sommariamente accantonate, o usate come Cina per il proverbiale Toro in quel proverbiale negozio cinese. (Ndt: modo di dire. Noi diciamo “muoversi come un elefante in un negozio di porcellane”)

Questo è anche l’unico album esistente in cui non ho una canzone preferita. Semplicemente non posso sceglierne una. Tuttavia, ne ho una che mi piace meno ed è Come Together; un classico di grande successo coperto da molte altre leggende. Inoltre, AMO quella canzone con tutto il cuore, ma è stata sempre e chiaramente la mia canzone meno preferita del disco. Per quanto possa parlare al mio scadente codice di programma umano, credo che parli al livello di brillantezza che è l’intero disco.

Non limitatevi a queste cose se non vi ispirano pensieri, queste sono solo idee che mi vengono in mente. Sono anche MOLTO curioso di ascoltare altre idee o scoperte nella speranza che un nuovo modo di ascoltare questo capolavoro venga rivelato per me e per gli altri.

Yo family! My record of the month for November is Abbey Road by The Beatles. This is my personal fav album by my fav band(tied w Bungle of course).

I’ve always gone back and forth between Magical Mystery Tour and Abbey but as I’ve gotten older, Abbey is just so solid and clever that it continues to increase its lead to me. The medley on the back half is nothing short of pure genius and the different soundscapes, vocally and beyond that the front half procures, take me to another dimension. A dimension where all perceived “rules” of music are either summarily dismissed, or used as China for the proverbial Bull in that proverbial China shop.

This is also the only album in existence where I don’t have a favorite song. I simply can not pick one. I do however, have a least favorite and that is Come Together; a smash hit classic covered by many other legends. Also, I fucking LOVE that song with all of my heart, but it is clearly and always has been, my least favorite song on the record. As it may speak to my shoddy coding as a human program, I believe it to speak to the level of brilliance that is the entire record.

Don’t confine yourself to these if they don’t inspire thoughts, these are just ideas that stick out to me. I’m also VERY curious to hear other ideas or discoveries in hopes that a new way to listen to this masterpiece will be revealed for myself and others.
